Lelystad and Zeewolde share the same province and the same polder landscape. On our farm in Zeewolde we grow the potatoes from which we cut fresh chips for hospitality businesses in Lelystad: snack bars, chip shops, restaurants and food trucks that want to give their customers something better than a bag from the freezer. As a chips supplier in Lelystad we deliver everything ourselves.
Lelystad is the capital of Flevoland and sits on the Markermeer, with the dyke to Enkhuizen on the horizon. The city is spaciously laid out, with residential areas, a centre with shops and places to eat, and business parks on the edges where many people work. For hospitality owners that means a mix of residents, workers picking up lunch and visitors from elsewhere.
Those visitors mostly head for the waterfront. Around Batavia Stad, with its outlet shops, and the Bataviahaven, where historic ships are moored, there are plenty of day trippers on fine days and in the holidays. If you have a business there or nearby, you know the peaks: a quiet Tuesday and a Saturday when the fryer never stops.
Because we cut on Tuesday and Friday mornings and then deliver ourselves, our deliveries suit the rhythm of a business with busy weekends. The Friday delivery covers Saturday and Sunday, and the Tuesday delivery tops up stock for the working week. You can read more about how our deliveries work under delivery of fresh chips.
Vacuum-packed chips in 10 kg packs stack neatly in the fridge and you only open what you need. Order a little more for a sunny weekend or a holiday period, and have a word with us if your volumes swing a lot. A wholesaler supplies from national stock; we know our own harvest, which is why we like to plan with you.
From Lelystad our service area stretches across the rest of Flevoland. To the east lies Dronten, a polder town surrounded by farmland, where business owners know first hand how potatoes grow. South of it lies Biddinghuizen, known for large events and recreation along the Veluwemeer.
Further north, on the edge of the Noordoostpolder, lies Urk. There, fish and chips have gone together for generations and the bar for a well-fried portion is set high. The pages for these places tell you more about the local hospitality scene and how we deliver there.
Since 1994 we have grown sugar beet, onions, winter wheat and above all potatoes in Zeewolde. In 2016 a chip shop near us had had enough of peeling and cutting its own potatoes. A scraping and cutting machine arrived and Friet van Beus was born. Today the third generation is helping to carry on and expand the farm.
You notice that history in the way we work. You call or message Thijs or Joost directly, and they know exactly where the potatoes come from. If you prefer to receive your chipping potatoes for Lelystad whole, we also supply the Agria washed or scraped. And for questions about frying, from the right temperature to when to go about changing your frying fat, we are happy to help.
Would you like to know whether fresh chips suit your business in Lelystad? Send a request or get in touch, and we will introduce ourselves and look at your menu and kitchen together.
We cut on Tuesday and Friday mornings and then deliver the chips ourselves. Together we agree which of those days, or both, your business is supplied.
For a few weeks in August we cut from the Frieslander instead of the Agria. It is a transitional potato with a slightly different colour and texture that crisps up quickly. If you run into anything while frying during that period, just give us a call.
Certainly, as long as it is a hospitality or trade customer. A lunch spot, staff canteen or food truck on a business park is just as welcome as a neighbourhood snack bar.
Then you can order whole Agria potatoes from us, washed or scraped. Cutting your own saves money, and stored cool and dark the potatoes keep well for a long time.
