If you run a snack bar, chip shop or restaurant in Almere, the farmer is practically next door. Our farm on the Duikerweg is in Zeewolde, the municipality right next to Almere, and that is where we cut fresh chips from potatoes we grow ourselves. No middlemen and no par-fried product, just fresh chips for Almere, vacuum packed and delivered to your door by our regular drivers.
Almere is the largest city in Flevoland and it is still growing fast. New neighbourhoods keep appearing, new businesses open and entrepreneurs from all kinds of backgrounds bring their own cooking with them. That makes the hospitality scene more varied than in many older cities of a similar size. The snack bar in the local shopping centre, the café by the water, the lunchroom in the centre and the grill round the corner all serve chips, each in their own way.
What these businesses share is that their customers come back. In a city with lots of families, a chip shop depends on regulars who order the same thing every week and know exactly how it should taste. That is when it matters that the chips in March are the same as the chips in October. Because we only process our own potatoes, the difference throughout the year stays very small.
From September through July we cut from the Agria variety, a floury potato with good length that fries to a golden yellow. Only in August, the transition season, do we use the Frieslander for a few weeks, a transitional potato that crisps up quickly and keeps well. Both varieties grow on our own land in Zeewolde. You can read more about the first one on the page about Agria potatoes.
On Tuesday and Friday mornings the potatoes go through our scraping and cutting machine. The chips are then vacuum packed in 10 kg packs, without additives, and our regular drivers take them to our customers. As a chips supplier in Almere we are not just a name on an invoice but the family that plants, lifts and cuts the potatoes itself. A wholesaler usually supplies from a broad catalogue; we do one thing, and we do it ourselves.
We deliver across Almere, from Poort and Stad to Hout and Buiten. One look at the map shows that the city and our farm are neighbours. For businesses in Zeewolde we are literally the local farmer, with hospitality around the Wolderwijd lake and the campsites by the water as regular customers in summer.
In the north-east of the city, Almere Buiten has its own shopping centre and large residential areas, with snack bars that are busiest in the evening. On the south side lies Almere Haven, the oldest part of the city, with a small harbour and terraces on the Gooimeer. Each of these places has its own page with more about the local hospitality scene.
Many business owners in Almere started out with frozen chips because it seemed easy. Those who switch to fresh notice the difference mostly in flavour and in what customers say about it. The inside stays fluffy while the outside fries crisp. It does take a slightly different way of working in the kitchen, for example when par-frying and in the temperature of the fat. The page about switching to fresh chips explains how that works in practice.
We help with that. We advise on the right frying fat, on the order of par-frying and finishing and on how to set up your station for the rush. If you would rather cut your own, you can also order whole chipping potatoes for Almere from us, washed or scraped. Cutting your own saves money, and our Agrias are gently washed and graded on the farm every week, so they keep well for a long time.

Yes. We drive ourselves and cover all of Almere, from Almere Poort to Almere Buiten. Tell us where your business is when you get in touch and we will see how you fit into the Tuesday or Friday round.
We supply businesses only: snack bars, chip shops, restaurants, food trucks, events and wholesalers who sell on. We do not supply private customers. Collection by appointment is possible if needed.
That depends on your business and your customers. Beef dripping gives a classic, full flavour, while vegetable fat is more neutral and a must for some customers. We are happy to talk it through when you become a customer.
We would love that. Our farm on the Duikerweg in Zeewolde is close to Almere. Just arrange a time with Thijs or Joost and we will show you where your potatoes grow and how we cut them.
